Hi! I’m Si.
I decided to learn about game development. Particularly, mobile game dev.
I’ve never done anything like this before. (Previously, I built TwitCleaner, but that was a life time ago now).
Based on Ira Glass’ comments about being creative:
What better way to do that than to power in and build a new game from scratch every day?
Now, I have near zero graphics skills. Even fewer auditory skills. Almost no experience in mobile. In fact, I really don’t have much of the requirements necessary to do anything in this area (other than buttloads of coding and insane levels of persistence). Hence pushing myself damn hard to upskill myself as quickly as humanly possible.
I figure I’ll start with Flash games (easy to deploy, free to make), while I get my basic skills up. Once I feel like I’m getting the core elements of game building together, then I can start branching out and learning about iOS, Android etc.
Unsurprisingly, many of these games are unfinished, or rough around the edges (particularly in the early days). However, I’m learning fast, getting better – and, most importantly, having fun.
Let’s see how long I can keep it up, and where the journey takes me.
